| Author Information for Nevada Barr (1952-)Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon is a National Park Ranger. The series is set in several different national parks as Anna is transferred within the system. I love these books . . . and Blind Descent is probably my favorite, as Anna is forced to deal with her claustrophobia when she is inside Carlsbad Caverns. I don't know the author's feelings on this subject, but she certainly captured my own fears; but then Anna is a lot braver than I am - I would have opted out immediately! Barr also captures the "scene" in each of her books with incredibly compelling word pictures. Each of her books is one of my favorites, for different reasons. I needed to wear a sweater while reading A Superior Death. I was gasping for air while reading Firestorm. Due South reminded me of why I left that area . . . my skin was clammy, and I read it in the middle of winter!. The series SHOULD be read in chronological order to watch the character development, but any of the books is worthwhile as a standalone. Happy Camping! --vj Homepage : http://www.nevadabarr.com

Comment: Dry Tortugas National Park
"So far, very, very good. Much better than the last two. Anna her
usual cranky self, set in an unusual place (Dry Tortugas), good action
scenes, fun characters, fascinating historical scenes from when the
place was a prison, just after the Civil War." - Mark Alan Miller - RAM
