Richard H. Dickinson graduated from West Point and took
advantage of a unique opportunity to be commissioned in the Air Force. He spent
12 years as a hurricane hunter and air traffic controller. He flew into the eyes
of 45 hurricanes, flew into debris clouds from nuclear explosions and watched
incoming Russian ICBMs over the North Atlantic.
