Jennifer Jordan
I was forced from the womb a squalling, red-faced babe the same
year as the inception of the artificial heart and Sergeant Peppers' Lonely
Hearts Club Band. I started talking early and walking late and do so every day.
My idea of heaven would be every book ever written and eternity to read them
all. Voracious reading is as much of a habit to me as excessive caffeine
consumption and the socially debilitating curse of having collection of bad
songs in my head on the verge of being sung at any moment.
I read almost everything I get my hands on. Fiction of every genre (except
romance) and nonfiction ranging from scientific to political to religious to
spiritual will be found in my bookshelves. And on the floor next to my bed. And
in piles on my bed. And in my car. Hmmmm....
I often read four to five books at once; some in an evening and some stretching
over many months
in a vain attempt to catch every nuance. Right now, I've got a mystery, a
political biography on Kissinger, a horror novel and a book on the lost gospels
of the Bible on my reading plate. While I listen to six CDs on random play
(David Bowie, Cat Stevens, The Cramps, U2, Lamya and Cheap Trick) and I'm
playing on the computer. Throw a book or music my way that I'm not familiar with
and my brain gets ready to be fed.
So feed me.
