Aprile 27th, 2003, Mystery One in Milwaukee
opened for a rare Sunday event. But When Dennis lehane comes to town, you don't
mind opening on a normally closed day. There were quite a few people who must
have felt equally about coming to the store on a Sunday, because there was a
real nice turn out. Shutter Island was the book this tour, and a wonderful book
it is. And Dennis must be happy with it, because he was all smiles today.
Richard was worried about running out of books, having stocked up when it came
out, and then selling more than fifty just this week. Well, everyone who came
got a copy and also got to see one of the coolest authors in the business. Mr.
Lehane is a pure joy to see at events like this. He discussed the new book, the
filming of Mystic River (due out this October), and the fate of Patrick and
Angie. (they are on vacation, and Dennis says that if they come calling he will
answer the door, but so far, they don't call, they don't write... so don't rule
it out, but don't hold your breath either.) The next project is a book set in
1919 Boston. While we wait there will be a short story collection released to
help hold us over!
So if Dennis Lehane comes to a store near you, by all means go see him. It was a
great signing!!
