Kara O’Keefe clutches her violin, Quicksilver, as she heads off to Yesterday’s Dreams pawnshop, hoping to help pay her father’s medical bills. Instead, she meets her own destiny. You will be clutching this book in your hands until you have it finished. This story by first-time author, Danielle Ackley-McPhail, builds quickly and sustains its pace while leading the reader through the world of the Sidhe, a race of mystical beings living in Ireland. She walks you through a series of events that change everything Kara thought she new about herself, her family and her life. Sound familiar? Lucky for the reader, there are some wonderful variations on the usual fantasy themes of good vs. evil, magic and Celtic lore by expounding on Irish Legends in modern life. The use of memories brings the characters (especially Beag Scath) to life and kept me reading on in desperation until I found out what happens in the end. And I’m not telling!

There had better be a sequel…
