This is the first in this wonderful series. China Bayles is a very likable character. This cozy series is a fast enjoyable read. China Bayles is an ex-lawyer and herb-shop proprietor living in Pecan Springs, TX.

A dear friend is found dead. It is suspected she committed suicide. Those that know her best do not believe this and investigate things. I did not figure the killer out in this until near the end. I did suspect that person earlier but the author does a good job of taking making you think someone else did it so you kind of forget.

I have read others in this series and truly enjoy the series. I highly recommend you give this series a try.
