Mary Kay Andrews has written a number of funny cozies under the name of Kathy Trochek. This book while cozy and funny is meatier, interesting and intelligent.

Eloise Foley has divorced her husband Tal but is living on the same property. He got the townhouse, she got the carriage house. The woman who broke up the marriage has moved in with Tal.

Weezie is a picker who dreams of opening her own antique shop. The well developed characters include Uncle James, a lawyer who was formerly a priest, Weezieıs alcoholic mother and old boyfriend Danny. Weezie and friends are suspicious when an old mansion seems about to disappear to make room for a paper mill, and the antiques it contains are vanishing. And when the death of her exıs girlfriend points suspicion at Weezie things heat up.

The book includes good food, cozy relationships - or maybe dysfunctional ones, and Savannah with all itıs warts, everything that can make life interesting including cockroaches and antebellum homes, sunshine and crab cakes. My one complaint I hate it when an author canıt decide between first person and third and jumps back and forth. It might occasionally be done well, but here I found it a sometimes jarring interruption of the story. Still, Iıll be looking for the next book.
