Book Review: The Camel Club

It would be hard to find a stranger group than The Camel Club. Oliver Stone lives in a small cottage by a cemetery. Caleb Shaw likes to dress in clothes from the nineteenth century including a bowler hat. Reuben Rhodes is over six feet four and dresses in dirty jeans, flannel shirt and frayed moccasins. Milton Farb is brilliant but suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Although a very strange group all of the members are highly intelligent. The group is named The Camel Club because camels have great stamina. They never give up and neither does The Camel Club.

The group meets one night on a small island and the members witness a murder. The victim was an employee of an agency highly shrouded in secrecy. Alex Ford of the Secret Service is assigned to investigate the murder but higher-powered officials throw obstacles in his way. Alex’s new girl friend Kate Adams becomes interested in the case. Kate and Alex try a little investigation of their own.

The murders are chasing down the members of The Camel Club but the group can be pretty evasive when threatened. When The Camel Club group joins forces with Alex and Kate they eventually uncover an unbelievable scheme. The conspiracy that is playing out involves officials at a very high level and the security of the entire nation is at risk.

The story is very complicated but well worth the read. The book offers a lot of food for thought. Hopefully it is nothing more than fiction.
