Some one is killing ex-cons. Ex-cons who happen to be sexual predators. And they are setting them up in such a way that there are no clues as to who is doing it. Tom Thorne is on the case with his team and they are a bit torn over trying to catch a killer whose victims might deserve what they get.
The build up of the story is deftly done as we follow Thorne and his crew. Along the way someone breaks into Tom’s home and ends up stealing his car. Tom is also involved with a new girlfriend in this book. But, just to keep things interesting, Tom’s Father is causing concern due to his failing memory. This sets up some great scenes with Tom and the senior Thorne. One in particular was a family wedding they attend together. Having been to a few family weddings my self, I found the observations quite entertaining!
This is a very well done book, and if you read very carefully, you may guess the ending. Maybe it’s just me, but I think I saw some things being set up for the future books as well. This is a great series, and this book brings it along nicely with it’s use of the supporting cast and some more insight into our protagonist. The only complaint I have is that now I have to wait till next year to read another.
