Lily Marsden is a killer-for-hire and has been very successful at her occupation. Only one picture exists of Lily and she is in disguise. With only this picture Joe Riley, a former homicide policeman from Chicago, has searched for her for months. Joe’s purpose is to clear his name and hopefully return to his former life. Due to a mishandled police investigation and Joe’s love of gambling, Joe was suspected in the death of a Chicago loan shark that Joe had borrowed money from to cover his gambling debts.

Lily makes the mistake of committing a murder in Vegas in the exact manner as the murder of the Chicago loan shark and this sets Joe hot on her trail.

The murder of a Los Vegas businessman in a gambling casino sets the town on end. The owner of the casino, hounded by his nagging wife, sends his hit man to take care of Lily. The crazed twin brothers of the victim decide to handle things in their own way. Two bumbling gamblers who lost money to Joe get in the way of everybody.

This story takes you from Vegas to New Mexico and back again. Secrets of the murder in Chicago are uncovered. Joe catches up with Lily only to lose her again. This book keeps you guessing as to what can possibly happen next. This is one of the best books I’ve read in quite awhile.
