If you haven’t met Father John O’Malley and Vicky Holden in previous Margaret Coel novels you are in for a treat with Eye of the Wolf. Father O’Malley is known as the Indian priest and is the pastor of St. Francis Mission on the Wind River Reservation. Vicky Holden is an attorney who has just entered into a law partnership with Adam Lone Eagle. The plan is to devote their practice to cases that involve land, natural resources and civil rights. Although Vicky and Adam are lovers Father John and Vicky share a bond that neither can overcome.

Even though Adam is opposed Vicky agrees to represent Frankie Montana, a local troublemaker and son of a friend of Vicky’s. Frankie is charged with assaulting three young men who are members of the Shoshone tribe.

Father John receives a message for the “Indian Priest”. The voice is disguised but the message leads Father John to believe that people are dead or dying at the Bates Battlefield. Shoshone warriors led Captain Bates’s army to this site and many Arapaho were killed.

Now three young men are found dead on this battleground. Once again the Indians fear that trouble will develop between the two tribes that have lived peacefully for many years.

Father John and Vicky are once more drawn together to solve these murders.

I hope to read the previous books in this series. It is not necessary to have read any of the earlier books to totally enjoy this one. I am already recommending it to friends.
