Series: Wind River Reservation Mysteries # 11

Someone has sent a recorded message implying recent killings at an old Indian battlefield. Father John O¹Malley investigates and finds a person with evil intent seems to be instigating a war between the Arapaho and Shoshone tribes who share a reservation. The primary suspect is Frankie Montana, a client of Arapaho lawyer Vicky Holden, and his own worst enemy.

Again, Vicky and Father John team up to find the truth, not believing that Frankie is guilty. Newspaper stories are fanning the flames, and trouble between the tribes is escalating. Meanwhile Vicky has romance problems, and Father Jon is dealing with an assistant priest having alcohol problems.

This interesting series shows present-day life on the reservation in Wyoming. Coel does a good job with setting and characters, and tells a story that moves through the lives of several people to an ending of more shock for some, hope for others. A satisfying read.
