Her ambition is to writer travel articles for magazines, but she lacks practical experiences. Thus Texan, Chloe Nichols accepts a job as a tour guide to wealthy traveling senior citizens visiting Europe. When she reaches Vienna, Chloe expects the boring trip to remain so in spite of the beautiful Danube setting. However, everything abruptly changes when Chloe falls over a dead body and people start shooting at her. Former CIA agent Matthew Broussard rescues Chloe from a killer. He is quite disappointed that he arrives too late to learn more about the murderer who killed his beloved years ago. However, his informant is the corpse that Chloe tripped over and his quest has changed to keep the American safe. As Matthew and Chloe pretend an engagement, they fall in love, but his heart is wrapped inside guilt for failing to keep his past loved one from harm. The frantic pace of JUST BREATH will leave readers on the verge of asphyxiation, but comic relief from the traveling tour group eases the tension just enough so the reader can gulp some air. The lead characters are an intriguing duo while the support cast adds villainy, scenery, or humor. With this strong romantic suspense and Vienna, readers will want to waltz to the nearest bookstore to find other tales from Dee Davis.
