This is Ken Follett's fifteenth novel and it has been a long time coming. It is set in 1958. America is about to launch its first satellite in the hope of regaining the lead in the space race.

Luke Lucas wakes up to find himself lying on the ground in a railway station, suffering from total amnesia. It is only when he sees a newspaper article about the launching of the satellite that his memories start to come back. However, will he able to stop what is going on in time?

With this novel, Follett has managed to write one that is just as captivating as his last. It has an interesting plot and the fact that it is set in the past makes it more believable, as obviously their medical technology to treat amnesia was much less advanced.

He packs it full of twists and turns and the reader is left puzzled as to what exactly is going on until right up to the very end, and the revelations contained in this ending are indeed very surprising. His characters are varied and detailed, although he does not develop them as much as he could do, preferring instead to concentrate on the fast-paced plot.

Overall, it makes exciting reading and should undoubtedly be another success for Follett.
