Emma Watson is a brilliant research doctor who has always wanted to study living beings in space. Her estranged husband has shared her dream but is grounded through a medical condition. Emma gets the chance to go into space with NASA.
However, on the space station, single-celled organisms start to infect the crew with horrifying results. Jack and the NASA ground crew try to launch a rescue, whilst Emma struggles to contain the microbe - as it endangers Earth 's population. Should the space station be left in orbit and the astronauts left to die?
Before this, Tess Gerritsen had written some good medical thrillers. With this one, she puts herself firmly into the ranks of superb thriller writers. 'Gravity' is captivating, puzzling and an excellent read. If you are a fan of a lot of gore, she certainly does not disappoint. The book is full of medical and technical jargon, but to make sure everyone understands what is going on, she has included a glossary at the back of the novel, also proving that she really does know what she is talking about.
This powerful, exciting thriller mixes medical matters, love and generally good writing. Michael Palmer and Robin Cook have written some good stuff, but this has to be one of the best medical thrillers I have read. Highly recommended.
