Jim Schmidt is the White House Press Secretary with a love of old rock 'n' roll and a wicked sense of humor that sometimes gets him into hot water. Bill Schmidt, his little brother, is the commander of the destroyer USS Winston Churchill with the same delightful sense of humor that makes his men [or most of them] devoted to him. Sue O'Dell is a reporter for the Washington Post with much to learn. We all know Colonel Moammar al-Gadhafi.

When intelligence reports indicate that Gadhafi and his terrorist thugs have planted chemical weapons in the US and plan to drop them by plane on Israel, everyone gets understandably tense. A special task-force comes up with a possible scenario that puts Jim and Bill Schmidt in the center of the solution, and risks both of their careers.

I enjoy good military thrillers, and this one was one of the better ones I've come across. Bill Harlow has written believable characters and chillingly realistic scenarios with humor and warmth thrown into the mix. This is the military I admire and the Washington I could hope for some day. I hope Mr. Harlow has more stories to tell.
