Being struck by lightning is a terrible thing and for Harper Connelly the accident left her with an ability to be able to locate corpses. Harper and Tolliver Lang travel to Doraville, North Carolina to try and find a corpse. Tolliver is Harper’s sort-of-brother as she calls him. Harper’s mother married Tolliver’s Dad but Harper has feelings for Tolliver that aren’t quite like brother-sister love.

Harper has been summoned to Doraville to try to locate the bodies of some boys that have been missing. Sandra Rockwell is the Sheriff of Knott County. Boys have gone missing in the county for sometime but have been written up as runaways. The latest boys that have gone missing the families will not believe are runaways and the Sheriff doesn’t believe it either.

Harper discovers the burial site and the horror surrounding it. There are more bodies there than anyone ever imagined. Before she can recover and get out of Doraville she is viciously attacked and hospitalized. The authorities will not let Harper and Tolliver leave town no matter how they argue.

To add to the mix Manford Bernardo and his mother Xylda show up in town to add their psychic abilities to the turmoil already existing in Doraville. Harper and Tolliver work towards figuring out where their future relationship is heading while biding their time in Doraville.

This is my first Harper Collins novel and I intend to catch up on the series. It is not one to be missed in my opinion.
