"Past Suspicion" introduces us to Robin Finley, an almost eighteen year-old, whose mother has just died, so she must relocate from California to Lorens, Wisconsin. This move to a small town in the Midwest is even more disastrous because Robin didn't know she had an uncle. Once in Lorens, she finds out there are lots of things her mother did not tell her. She discovers her mother had an accident at a local landmark, and that mystery still surrounded the events that occurred. Robin is drawn into finding out what happened to her mother, putting herself into danger. She continues to dig into the past with the help of a local reporter. But as she researches, is what and who she finds going to kill her?

Ms. Heckenkamp has created an engaging character in Robin Finley, and puts her in a realistic setting. The story is well written and moves fluidly. It is entertaining and a good book to read.
