The Dark Path is the sequel to The Dark Wing. The Dark Path is the story of humans and their ongoing war with an alien race called the Zor and their conclusion of this conflict.

The story picks up several years later in The Dark Path. The humans and the Zor are now faced with a new alien enemy that could destroy both races. The Zor recognize this enemy and with their psychic abilities realize that something must be done immediately to stop the destruction of both races.

However the humans think the current Zor leader has lost his mind, which sometimes happens with the psychic ability to see into the future. The humans also believe that the Zor believe and follow their mythology too much and cannot be convinced of the eminent danger. They refuse to believe the threat until a few are confronted head on by the enemy aliens.

The main characters in this book are Jackie Laperriere, a human commodore in charge of a space station at the edge of the empire who has had two ships disappear recently while out on missions and her assistant, a Zor named Ch’k’te.

I truly enjoyed this book much more than the The Dark Wing as I had a better idea of what was going on and really liked the characters. I found Jackie and Ch’k’te much easier to identify with than the characters in The Dark Wing.

However I was quite disappointed in the ending as it was one of those books that had no ending. It just left you hanging with no conclusion so that you have to purchase and read the next book to find out the conclusion which might take another year or two going by the copyright dates on the first two in the series. I definitely do not like books that leave you with no conclusion.
