Former Houston prosecutor Penn Cage mourns the death of his wife. Needing solace Penn and his four-year old daughter return to his hometown of Natchez, Mississippi. Though two decades have passed, Penn expects peace and support from his family members.

However, instead of domestic tranquillity, Penn realizes that someone is blackmailing his beloved father. Penn believes his dad is a paragon who is being abused by an assailant over a deadly mistake he made tears ago. Soon Penn and newspaper publisher Caitlin Masters finds a link to an unsolved killing of an African-American over thirty years ago. As they begin to uncover the truth, several individuals put pressure on Penn to drop his inquiry, but he just cannot let it go.

THE QUIET GAME is a superb legal-conspiracy thriller that brings the deep South to life. The story line is crisp, well written, and filled with plenty of non-stop action. Penn feels very human as he seeks honesty, justice and truth yet is willing to destroy evidence that can hurt a loved one. New York Times best-selling author Greg Iles has written an enthralling tale that will give much delectation to sub-genre fans.
