While the author is new to me, this book is apparently number five in the Mandy Dyer, drycleaner and amateur sleuth, series. Mandy your basic cozy type sleuth surrounded by an eclectic collection of regulars in the series. And there is the mandatory uneasy relationship with cop/boyfriend, hostile relationship with her mother, wonderful relationship with her cat. While there are not recipes there is a great substitute in stain cleaning hints.

The particular plot in this story is that a client asks the business to alter an heirloom wedding gown. Later Mandy discovers the bride intends to marry Mandy's much married ex-husband. Mandy delivers the gown to the wedding and appears a likely suspect when the bride is murdered minutes before the wedding.

I'll read the rest of the books.
