A minor actor is found dead in the boot of his car - his body sawn in half. A few months later, a psychiatrist at a hospital for the criminally insane dies in the same way. When an inmate's ramblings become predictions for forthcoming deaths, predictions that are borne out, it is down to Dr. Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis to try to stop the killer before there are any more murders.

Jonathan Kellerman has certainly got writing thrillers down to a fine art. In this novel, he throws Delaware and Sturgis into one of their most gruesome cases yet, a case that is just packed full of surprises. There are so many plot twists and false clues littered throughout the book; it becomes amazing. Indeed, the ending is also quite a surprise and gives us a look at another side of Delaware.

The pace is fast and the book is very easy to read. I would say that the large amount of things going on can make it seem a bit confusing from time to time, but apart from that, the novel is a captivating and powerful read that Kellerman fans will adore. It is ingenious and you can plainly see that the author has done his research into psychology, etc. An excellent read.
