Series: Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels # 2
Hyperion; ARC; 2005; 307pp

Jack Daniels and her partner, Herb Benedict are back and after a new serial killer who is leaving personal items belonging to Jack on the victims’ body parts that are left to be found. The killer is organized and quite aware of police procedures as the only evidence he is leaving are Jack’s personal items.

Not only is Jack after a very dangerous psychopath, her personal life is as chaotic as ever and Herb is going through a midlife crisis so they are not getting along too well either. Not only does Jack have her current boyfriend who wishes to take their relationship to another level, her Mom’s health is failing, her ex-husband walks back into the picture and she winds up with the first victim’s rather difficult cat.

I loved this book and thought it was a wonderful follow up to Whiskey Sour. It was definitely quite the page-turner and I look forward to many more books featuring Jack and Herb, which I will purchase in hardback rather than have to wait for the paperback editions. I would highly recommend this book.
