Jack Daniels is up against an unseen killer in Dirty Martini. A man that calls himself “The Chemist” is injecting poisons into almost anything he can get his hands on. He targets grocery stores, restaurants, public places and death follows wherever he goes.
Latham is getting serious and wants to get married but Jack gets called away before she can answer yes or no to his proposal.
Latham’s life is also at risk since Jack brought home some infected groceries without knowing that the store she shops at had been targeted.
Sgt. Herb Benedict, Jack’s long-time partner, is deserting her. He has decided he has had enough of the homicide scene so Jack is pretty much working alone on this case. She does get a new partner for awhile and a Special Agent Rick Reilly steps in to lend a hand.
The book is full of suspense and it is a race to see if Jack can nail The Chemist before he destroys more people. The key seems to be what is his reason behind all of this violence but that is not an easy answer to find.
