Wow. This was a great book. It started with what I found an amusing turn when Tess finds herself having to go to therapy for anger management. The details of this are better when read for yourself, so I’ll leave you to it. I will say that it’s quite fun.

The meat of the book is involved with Tess taking a job from a group of charities that wish to help prevent domestic violence. It sure sounds like an innocent enough case doesn’t it? Ha!!! Whitney had no idea what she was getting Tess into. While tracking down some past crimes to make sure they were investigated thoroughly Tess starts to unravel a strange plot, and she could well be in the center of it. To give away more of the story would be unfair, but suffice to say that it was a wonderful ride on a well tuned vehicle of a book.

The usual suspects are here, Crow, Whitney, and both dogs too! I love reading about Tess and her friends. They are written skillfully and realistically. For me reading a book by Laura Lippmann is like a phone call from an old freind, I don’t want it to end, and this book was no exception.
