Mystery novelist Tracy Eaton accompanies her spouse as they fly across the country to attend the wedding of his sister Marisa in New York City. However, the happy event is disrupted when someone kidnaps the bride. To Tracy, this is Godsend opportunity to actually investigate a case rather than writing a fictionalized account. Tracy quickly realizes her in-laws are more concerned with keeping family secrets hidden rather than freeing Marisa from her captivity. In turn, the family excludes Tracy from their machinations and loosely put their efforts into regaining the bride’s freedom. As Tracy makes inquiries that nearly bring the Big Apple to its knees, she begins to uncover a strange truth behind the abduction.

REVENGE OF THE GYPSY QUEEN is an enjoyable romp through New York City by a weird cast of players, whose eccentricities turn the tale into a delightful mystery. The humorous story line is entertaining due Tracy’s attempts at her first investigation conflicting with the demands of her in- laws for secrecy. Tracy is an intriguing character, but the rest of the cast is never developed beyond the superficial comedic role. Still, Kris Neri has written a jocular read that will please readers who take pleasure from an irreverent tale of delight.
