Sam Kincaid is Chief of the Special Investigations Branch of the Utah Department of Corrections. When Levi Vogue, chairman of the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole is gunned down in the driveway of his home Sam is called in to help Salt Lake City Police Department homicide detective Lt. Kate McConnell solve the murder.

When Sam and Kate discover that Levi was living a secret life they felt their investigation would be pretty much cut and dried. Levi was involved with a prostitute who had a very jealous boy friend and their investigation began to center on locating the boy friend. Soon they found out that this case was not going to be as easy to solve as indicated at first.

Once the two investigators started uncovering more and more clues, bodies started turning up and more people found their lives and future in danger.

Sam is divorced and is raising his daughter Sara with the help of his Aunt. Soon even his family is close to danger.

Michael Norman presents a very complicated plot that eventually leads to corruption within the prison itself and lives are destroyed with the outcome of the investigation.

Poison Pen Press says Michael Norman has a sequel in the works and I would look forward to reading it.
