Michael Sullivan a/k/a The Butcher of Sligo is busy killing and raping. His rape victims are afraid to identify him to the police because of the pictures he loves to show of his handiwork. He has turned against the mob and is on a killing spree.

Cross has come to a turning point in his life and has decided that it is time to quit the FBI and go back to private practice. He is beginning to feel that his life is spinning out of control and it is time to concentrate on home and family.

His thoughts have turned many times recently to the past and the death of Maria his wife. Then Sampson pulls him in on a case that involves the serial rapist. Cross begins to think that The Butcher of Sligo is the one who murdered Maria. He is determined to catch him.

Michael Sullivan leads Sampson and Cross on a chase that takes them out of their jurisdiction and puts both in serious danger.

A fast read, good conclusion.
