Strange and Quinn are hired to find a young girl who has run away from home and is thought to be working as a prostitute in Washington DC. In addition, a young boy on the football team coached by Strange and Quinn is the victim of a violent crime. This is a heartrending tale - gripping and masterfully told. The characters are all memorable - right down to the most minor. One of Pelecanos' strengths is that he can show every side of his characters - good and bad - and bring you to understand them even if you don't always like them.
