M. K. Preston
Class/Genre:   Mystery   Woman Main Character
Series: Chantalene # 2

Chantalene Morrell is a fine new heroine; a little bit new age, a little bit country. Living in rural Oklahoma she yearns for a more exciting life and the chance to see other places. Chantalene works with her lawyer boyfriend Drew in a business that is mostly tax preparation.

When longtime friend Thelma Patterson is offered an oil lease on her land she must find the husband who deserted her or have his name removed from the deed. When Billy Ray appears after 30 years, suspicions arise that he may be an impostor. Chantaleneıs investigation puts her at risk. If thatıs not enough, someone may be stalking Chantalene. The danger from both sources seems to be rushing toward a headlong collision with Thelma and Chantalene caught in the headlights.

Preston knows how to use words, choosing adjectives that are appropriate and fresh. With a plot that doesnıt quit and characters as real as your own family, I found this a superb book. Iım rushing out to find her first novel and will be eagerly awaiting her next. Preston is an exceptional new talent.
