Mira, 2004

After a traumatic incident, stockbroker Madeline Carter leaves her job in New York to live in California and become a day trader. She runs into an old friend, and trouble ensues.

This is a book with way too much detail and not enough action. The author can take more than four very long paragraphs to get from point A to B, describing every turn of the road, every page of the map. The action does come alive toward the end of the book, if you have stayed with it that long. The characters have a bit of charm, except for Madeline who frequently behaves stupidly, while treating us to every random thought that has entered her mind. All told you may find it more exciting to watch ticker tape.
