Gordon Seegerman has spent eight years as an unambitious public defender. What he really wants to do is make a success of his band Barry X and the Mandys, who play mostly Barry Manilow songs. This and a father suffering from Alzheimeršs disease gives him enough to do.

When he is given a misdemeanor public exposure case he plans to plead the case quickly and get back to making music. His client has other plans, insisting on a trial. Things heat up when a witness is murdered and weird things are happening. Every time Gordon and fellow lawyer Terry think they solve a problem, two more pop up. By talešs end, Gordon seems to have the right stuff as both his legal and his music careers seem to be advancing. Maybe even his love life.

A good plot, bits of humor and angst will keep you turning the pages. Legal junkies and Manilow fans will appreciate this one.
