Series: Faye Quick # 1

Scoppettone has written a dozen or more books before so her name is well known among mystery fans. With this book she introduces a new character that readers will love.

Faye Quick began her career as a secretary and Girl Friday to PI Woody Mason. When Woody was drafted during WWII, he asked Faye to keep the agency going while he served his country. Thus a female private investigator was born.

With so many men gone, even a woman could pick up a few jobs, but when Faye stumbled over a body one evening, she was faced with solving her first murder.

The setting, the war economy, the slang of the period are all well done. If I found anything wrong in this book, it was that the dropped Gšs and the ya for you could at times seem tedious. But thatšs a minor thing that didnšt spoil the story. Along with a good mystery you will find interesting characters and endless fun in this book. May we see more adventures of Faye Quick.
