Series: Faye Quick # 2

Faye Quick is a private investigator. Perhaps not a proper job for a lady, but with her boss off to fight WW II many women are called to do "men's jobs". In this second outing, Faye is asked to investigate a missing soldier, hired by the girl who plans to marry him. Faye checks his hotel room and finds a body, but not the missing man.

This second in a series gives a look at what life was like in the early forties. The slang may be appropriate to the era but I found yaš for you and constant dropped gšs only become annoying and detract from what might be a good story. Scoppettonešs characters are lively and the settings well done. The plot twists kept the story moving but at times seemed to stretch believability. The ending might have been stronger. Still, Faye is a fun character.
