When Clair Fraynıs brother Steven is shot at the college where they both study, his death affects her close knit family. Her father and mother pull apart, her composer Uncle Milo attempts to brighten the atmosphere by buying a piano.

Clair meets Victor Duarte who implies a connection to Steven. Victor suggests Benjamin Reed, son of the assistant attorney general, may know something about the shooting. He wants Clair to start a relationship with Benjamin to find out more. Needing a way to cope with her brotherıs death, Clair agrees.

The story of a loving if flawed family surrounds the mystery of Stevenıs death, as things gradually escalate with the investigation of the shooting. A compelling tale, insightful, romantic, unnerving, well worth the read,
