Deputy Sherriff Lou Ford is a good ole boy - a little dull, a
little too prone to cliches, good-natured to the point of being
annoying. He's very suited to the slow pace of the small Texas town he
polices. But it's all a cleverly built facade that he's created over
the whole of his life to disguise the psychopathic killer inside him.
This was a re-read of a book that I get out every couple of years or
so. I prefer characters I can empathise with, even if I don't
necessarily like them. But this books is so chilling and so well
written and utterly fascinating that sometimes I need to remind myself
that it really is all that. But I don't particularly LIKE it :o) And
my rating is for enjoyment rather than brilliance. If my ratings were
more objective it would score more highly. Makes no sense, I know, but
there you are :o)
