The Harvest is set in near-future Earth. An alien ship has arrived. After a year of silence, the "Travellers" suddenly cause all of humanity to sleep…and to dream. In a dream, the Travellers ask each human on earth a question Do you want to live forever? Only one in ten thousand say no. Those who reject eternal life watch helplessly as the rest of humanity – including spouses, children, parents, neighbors, employers -- spend their final days on Earth before preparing to join the Travellers. Those who remain, some misfits or criminals, but many common people, will need to make a new world for themselves. The book is written primarily in the perspective of those who have rejected the Travellers.

The Harvest is a unique story with interesting characters. There are a few small holes in the plot (the main question in my mind is, what happened to everyone's pets?), but overall this was a good read.
