Bonnie Jo Campbell is the American novelist behind The Waters (2024), Once Upon a River (2011), American Salvage (2009, National Book Award finalist), and the short story collections Mothers, Tell Your Daughters (2015) and Women & Other Animals (1999). Campbell is one of the canonical contemporary American Midwestern rural literary novelists.
