James Lee Burke is the American novelist behind the long-running Dave Robicheaux series (1987-2024), the Hackberry Holland series, the Billy Bob Holland series, and standalone novels including In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead (1993). Burke has won the Edgar Award for Best Novel twice and is one of the canonical contemporary American Southern crime-and-literary novelists of his generation.
