Patricia Cornwell

Patricia Cornwell is the American crime writer whose Kay Scarpetta forensic-pathologist series (more than thirty entries since Postmortem in 1990) helped invent the modern forensic-thriller subgenre. Her former job as a computer analyst at the Virginia Chief Medical Examiner's office is the source of the series' procedural authority.
