Rennie Airth is the South-African-born British novelist behind the John Madden interwar mystery series (River of Darkness, The Dead of Winter, The Reckoning, The Death of Kings, The Decent Inn of Death). A former Reuters foreign correspondent, he writes one Madden novel every three to five years.
