Arctic Drift is one of the late Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt novels, co-written with his son Dirk, and the book does exactly what the late-Cussler form is built for. There is a historical 19th-century shipwreck. There is a contemporary geopolitical scuffle involving a contested Arctic mineral. There is a NUMA mission. There are car chases. There is at least one classic-car cameo. Dirk Pitt is older but no less competent.
Whether you can enjoy this depends entirely on whether the Cussler formula still works for you. If you have been reading these for years, you know exactly what to expect and the book delivers it. If you are new to Dirk Pitt, this is not the right entry point. Read Raise the Titanic first.
Three stars. A reliable late-Cussler. Comfort reading for series fans.
