Of Beginnings and Endings is the sixth and concluding Castaways in Time novel from Robert Adams, and the book where he ties off the alternate-Tudor sequence with the kind of pulp enthusiasm the series has been running on. The Bass Foster ensemble has settled into the 16th century. The political conspiracies have come to a head. The closing battle does what closing battles in Robert Adams books always do.

Adams's strengths and weaknesses are by this point well-established. The action is enthusiastic. The dialogue is occasionally hard to read in 2026 terms. The historical-alternate setting continues to be more interesting than the protagonists.

Three stars. Recommended only to series readers. New readers should start with the first Castaways in Time.
