Trust Me is the kind of Jeff Abbott standalone that takes a propulsive thriller hook (Luke Dantry, a graduate student in psychology specializing in radicalization, is kidnapped by people who want him to apply his expertise to actual operational subjects) and executes it with the discipline the form requires.
Abbott handles the academic-thriller mix with the same lean efficiency he brings to all his standalones. The psychology material is handled with more care than the genre usually requires. The chase sequences are well-paced. The supporting cast (Luke's adoptive father, the federal contact who may or may not be on his side) all earn their pages.
Four stars. A satisfying standalone thriller. Recommended for fans of Lee Child-school propulsive fiction.
