A Cat on a Beach Blanket takes Lydia Adamson's Alice Nestleton series out to the Hamptons for the summer, with Alice cat-sitting for a wealthy East End family and the usual death turning up to interrupt the beach reading. The formula is exactly what the cozy reader wants.
Adamson's strength is the brevity of the novels and the unfussy way they move from setup to solution. The East End texture is sketched lightly. Bushy and Pancho, Alice's cats, get their cameos. The case resolves quickly.
Three stars. A reliable cat-cozy beach read. Series readers will be content. Not the entry point for new readers.
